History
Pete Johnson was a Los Angeles cigar enthusiast and tobacconist who partnered with Pepin Garcia, then newly arrived from Cuba, to launch Tatuaje in 2003. The brand was one of the early winners of the Garcia-Johnson collaboration, before My Father Cigars existed as a separate company.
Tatuaje cigars are now produced at the Garcia family factory and continue to be blended in collaboration with Pepin and his children. The brand has built a cult following for its Habano-wrapped Nicaraguan profile and for limited editions like the annual Monster Series.

Flavor profile
Brown Label runs full-bodied with pepper, cedar, leather, and a long warm finish. Black Label dials up the strength with espresso, dark spice, and a thick peppery exhale. Havana VI is the milder face of the catalog, medium with bright cedar and a soft sweet finish.
At the counter
$10 to $20 per stick. Limited Monster Series releases command premium prices.
Who it is for
Tatuaje is for the experienced smoker who wants concentrated, full-flavored Habano craftsmanship. Not the right brand for a first cigar. Excellent for cold-weather smoking and for collectors chasing limited releases.
