History
Rakesh Patel, an attorney, launched the brand in 1995 as Indian Tabac. The company rebranded to Rocky Patel Premium Cigars in the early 2000s as the founder became the public face of the operation. The brand built its reputation on the Vintage series, which uses tobacco harvested in specific years and aged for at least a decade before rolling.
The Vintage 1990 (Honduran broadleaf wrapper) and Vintage 1992 (Honduran broadleaf, different priming) put Rocky Patel on the national stage. The brand has since expanded into more than two dozen blends, from mild Connecticuts to full-bodied Nicaraguans.
