History
Davidoff began as a Geneva tobacconist founded by Zino Davidoff in 1911. The brand pivoted into Cuban-rolled cigars under license through the mid-twentieth century, then moved its entire production to the Dominican Republic in 1991 after a public split with Habanos S.A. over quality concerns.
Davidoff cigars today are owned by Oettinger Davidoff AG and produced at the company's own factories in the Dominican Republic with leaf grown in Dominican, Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Ecuadorian valleys. The brand is known as one of the most exacting in the premium category.
