The family behind the counter.

The short version

Tobacco Shack has been on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard since 1996, family-run since 2016. One walk-in humidor, one cedar room, one counter, and a few decades of regulars who keep coming back for the same reason. It feels like the shop has not changed, and the cigars are still worth the drive.

The story

How a Buford humidor stays the same on purpose.

01

The shop, before us.

Tobacco Shack opened on Nelson Brogdon Boulevard in 1996. The strip looked different then. Buford was a smaller town, the Mall of Georgia had not been built yet, and a true walk-in humidor in Gwinnett County was a real find. The original owners built the cedar room, stocked it with Padron and Fuente, and put out a coffee pot.

Three decades later, the cedar shelves are the same. The coffee pot is the same. The room still smells the way a humidor should. That continuity is the whole point.

02

Taking it over.

The current owners took over in 2016 and have run it as a family business ever since. The priority from day one was to keep what worked: the cedar room, the walk-in humidor held at a steady 70/70, and the relationships with regulars who had been coming in for twenty years.

The changes have been small and quiet. A refreshed room. More boutique cigars on the wall. Better hygrometers in the humidor. A text list for regulars who want a heads-up on new arrivals, a loyalty program, and the site you are reading now.

What has not changed: family at the counter, premium cigars only, and a room you can walk into and feel comfortable in within thirty seconds.

03

What we believe about cigars.

A premium cigar should be enjoyed without ceremony. Wrapper names, ring gauges, and country-of-origin trivia are useful when they help you find what you like. They are not useful when they get between you and the cigar.

We stock the brands whose makers still make them well. Padron, because three generations of the family have not cut corners. Fuente, because the Hemingway line still tastes the way it did in 1986. Boutique cigars from small farms, because the regional roller still beats the multinational one nine times out of ten.

If you want to learn, ask. If you want to buy what you already love, we will hold it for you. If you want to browse and not be bothered, we are good at that too.

04

One category, done right.

We are a cigar and pipe tobacco shop, and that is the entire focus. We chose a single category and have spent three decades committing to it. That is why the humidor stays full of the things worth driving for, and why the answer at the counter is rarely a guess.

05

Find us at the counter.

Most afternoons, you will find a family member behind the counter. Stop in. Ask what came in this week. Tell us what you have been smoking. The shop runs on conversation more than it runs on advertising.

What stays the same

The parts we refuse to change.

70/70, every day

The walk-in humidor holds a steady seventy degrees and seventy percent humidity, six days a week, so every cigar you pull is ready to light.

Family at the counter

Most afternoons a family member is behind the counter. Ask what came in this week and you will get a straight answer.

Premium only

Padron, Fuente, and a rotating shelf of boutique cigars from small farms. We carry the ones we would smoke ourselves.

Come meet us

We will keep your favorites on the wall.

Come meet us in person. Stop in any afternoon, ask what came in this week, and find something worth taking home. The shop runs on conversation more than it runs on advertising.
